SM CELEBRATES EARTH DAY 2023

SM City Mindpro celebrated the Earth Day 2023 with a series of activities designed to promote environmental sustainability and inspire action towards a more sustainable future. The event, titled “Earth Day 2023: Invest in Our Planet, Invest in Our Youth” featured an Art and Storytelling activity, and a Sustainability Tour.

SM employee-volunteers round up with Zamboanga Central School SPED Center pupils along with their teachers during the celebration of Earth Day at Cinema 3 of SM City Mindpro.


The Art and Storytelling activity kicked off the celebration and invited participants from Zamboanga Central School SPED Center expressed their love for the planet and shared their stories through various artistic forms. SM employee-volunteers led the activity as they read the story based on Manny Baldemor’s artworks. The story reflects the simple ways children can participate in living sustainably on their own and with their family.



Following the Art and Storytelling activity, the Sustainability Tour showcased various sustainability initiatives and practices that are implemented in SM City Mindpro. The tour aimed to educate and inspire participants to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives and contribute to the planet's restoration and regeneration.

Engr. Rommel Bellen, SM City Mindpro Assistant Mall Manager, discussed all the sustainability initiatives of the mall in saving and protecting the environment.


In SM City Mindpro, the kids had the opportunity to visit and learned about the mall’s Trash-To-Cash Recycling Market, the use of LED lights and VFD to save electricity, and proper disposal of E-Waste through the E-Waste Collection bin, which were discussed by Assistant Mall Manager Engr. Rommel Bellen.

CENRO Zamboanga City Information Officer Ms. Nympha Cunanan shared with the pupils of Zamboanga Central School SPED Center various ways on how the youth can help in protecting the environment.

The Earth Day Celebration at SM City Mindpro demonstrated the power of art, storytelling, and community engagement in promoting environmental sustainability and inspiring action towards a more sustainable future. It is also an annual activity of SM Supermalls as part of its advocacy for environmental conservation.
