SM Supermalls: Driving forces for diversity, ingenuity, and employee growth

Fostering a thriving workplace built on teamwork, innovation, inclusivity, and diversity has been a longstanding focus for SM Supermalls. The company is committed to creating a vibrant workplace. This commitment pulsates through every corner of its 85 malls nationwide, resonating with the heartbeat of more than 7,000 employees.

Highlighting women for success

In SM, women shine brightly in leadership roles, embodying the essence of empowerment and equality. These women make up 59% of both executive roles and the overall workforce. SM cultivates a comprehensive work environment that empowers all employees, with a particular focus on helping women excel.

This commitment extends to ensuring their safety and dignity. SM strictly upholds the Bawal Bastos Law, providing a safe space for all employees to report any form of harassment and fostering a culture of respect and equality.

During Women's Month, SM’s dedication to honoring the achievements of its female employees shone brightly. The outpouring of support through the Women’s Month Kudos cards program was overwhelming, with more than 17,500 cards exchanged with an average of at least four received by each female employee. Each card that was sent out is a statement to the empowering spirit within its workforce.

SM also championed gender equality through its “Wear Purple Day”. All employees were invited to wear their best purple outfits, showing their unity and continued commitment to valuing its female workforce and the unique contributions of every Filipino woman.

Leading with heartitude, guiding with compassion

Additionally, unique online learning sessions were also provided for our employees. In a world where leadership is not just about authority, but also about empathy, SM conducted an online learning session titled "Leading with Heartitude: Navigating Compassion Fatigue and Leadership Challenges". The session served as a beacon of wisdom, guiding its employees through the intricacies of compassion fatigue and leadership hurdles. Moreover, a talk on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in partnership with Valucare, its employee health provider, equipped the female workforce with knowledge about the condition and its management.

This positive atmosphere continued with the International Day of Happiness, painting smiles on faces as an additional 3,900 kudos cards were exchanged, spreading joy and camaraderie among its people.

Investing in a growth-oriented future

By upholding a rewarding work environment built on inclusivity, diversity, and teamwork, SM enables its employees to collaborate, innovate, and achieve their full potential. This unwavering focus on employee well-being not only strengthens the current workforce, but also inspires future leaders who reflect the company's principles of inclusion and excellence. SM's dedication to its employees paves the way for a brighter future for both the company and the individuals who contribute to its success. (SM SUPERMALLS)
